Then it was time to head for the airport, 22 days after we’d arrived. In that time we had travelled clockwise right round the island, from Taipei’s neon streets to the forests of Alishan. Taoyuan Airport is linked to Taipei Main Station by the Airport MRT, with the express taking about 35 minutes to Terminal 1.
Taiwan had given us neon-lit cities and silent old forests, and we flew home having loved the scenery and the warm welcome we’d had everywhere.
Good to know
- Checking in early: if you’re flying with China Airlines, EVA Air, Mandarin Airlines or UNI Air, you can check your bags in at Taipei Main Station on the day you fly, between 6am and 9.30pm and up to three hours before departure. Taoyuan Airport
