Where we've been
Eight countries and Antarctica since 2019, each with its own day-by-day diary.
These are the places we've been and written about, each with a day-by-day diary and a Things to Know page. In Europe that's Ibiza, Iceland and Switzerland. In Asia it's Bali, Thailand, the Philippines and Taiwan. And in 2023 we sailed to Antarctica.
Everything on the site comes from our own trips, so if a place isn't listed here, we haven't been yet.
Ibiza twice, in 2019 and for the August 2026 solar eclipse, both times based in San Antonio. Iceland in February 2020, driving the south coast in a campervan for four days. Switzerland in 2025, starting in Zurich and then joining a group tour based in Wengen, with hikes, lake boats and the train up to Jungfraujoch.
Bali in 2019, split between Seminyak and Ubud. Thailand in 2022 and again over New Year 2022 into 2023, from Bangkok and Kanchanaburi down to Khao Sok, Phuket, Koh Phi Phi and Krabi. The Philippines in 2024, island hopping from Siargao to Cebu, Bohol and El Nido. Taiwan in 2025, 22 days travelling clockwise round the island.
In November 2023 we flew to Ushuaia and sailed across the Drake Passage on the Ocean Endeavour. We landed at Neko Harbour, Cuverville Island, Portal Point and Deception Island, went kayaking through brash ice, and saw Gentoo penguins, Weddell seals and humpback whales up close.
