We've been to Thailand twice within a year. The January 2022 trip was a group tour that lost ten days to Covid quarantine. We went back from 28 December 2022 to 21 January 2023 and spent three and a half weeks travelling from Kanchanaburi to the Andaman coast. Each year below has its own page of day-by-day diaries.
2022: Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Krabi
The first week took in a cycling tour of Bangkok, the Maeklong Railway Market, Damnoen Saduak floating market, Erawan Falls and the ruins of Ayutthaya. Then one of our group tested positive, and we spent ten days in quarantine in a hotel. Once we were cleared we flew to Krabi for a week in Ao Nang, with boat trips to Maya Bay, Koh Phi Phi and Railay Beach, before a last day in Bangkok.
2023: Kanchanaburi, Khao Sok and the islands
We started at the Bridge over the River Kwai and Erawan Falls, then saw the new year in on a river cruise in Bangkok. After that we flew south to Khao Sok for canoeing, a night safari and a floating bungalow on Cheow Lan Lake, and worked our way through Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Railay and Ao Nang before a few final days in Bangkok.
