Farewell to the Philippines

Our last day in the Philippines: flying back to Manila and on home to London Heathrow, still talking about the places we'd seen and the people we met.

It was a sad goodbye as we flew back to Manila to start the journey home to London Heathrow. Over nearly four weeks we’d gone from Siargao to Cebu, Bohol and finally El Nido.

Manila’s airport is named after Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr, who was assassinated there in 1983; it took his name in 1987. We talked the whole way home about the landscapes we’d seen and the lovely people we’d met, and the Philippines had well and truly won us over.

See it on film

Most of our trips have a film on YouTube, from puffins on Skomer to the Drake Passage.
