Arriving in Ushuaia

We flew from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia and checked into the Wyndham Garden Hotel del Glaciar, a few days early to explore before boarding for Antarctica.

We landed at Ushuaia airport at 10.10am on the flight from Buenos Aires, a non-stop hop of about 3 hours 40 minutes, and our transfer took us to the Wyndham Garden Ushuaia Hotel del Glaciar.

We’d arrived a few days before the ship sailed on purpose, so there’d be no rush to get to the ship and we’d have time to see what Ushuaia had to offer. The city looks out over the Beagle Channel, and according to its tourist office, 90% of Antarctic tourism passes through its port.

Good to know

  • Getting there: the non-stop flight from Buenos Aires Aeroparque to Ushuaia takes about 3 hours 40 minutes.
  • Why Ushuaia: the city’s tourist office says 90% of Antarctic tourism passes through its port. Ushuaia Tourism
  • Arriving early: that’s why we came a few days early. A delayed flight won’t stop the ship sailing on time.

We checked these details in October 2026. Times, prices and rules do change, so it’s worth a quick look at the official sites before you go.
