We hired bikes in Ao Nang and rode inland to find the Crystal Lake and the Blue Lake. After several days of longtails and island boats, this was a day on our own wheels, away from the beaches.
These tucked-away freshwater pools made a calm change from the salty, busy coast.
Good to know
- Which lakes: “Crystal pool” is used for more than one place around Krabi, including the Emerald Pool area at Khlong Thom and a lake at Nong Thale, so check which one a tour or map means.
- Blue Pool: at Khlong Thom, swimming isn’t allowed in the Blue Pool itself. Foreign adults pay 400 baht for the nature reserve.
We checked these details in October 2026. Times, prices and rules do change, so it’s worth a quick look at the official sites before you go.
