Day 1: Arriving in Ushuaia

We arrived at Ushuaia International Airport at 10:10 AM from Buenos Aires. There, our transport took us to the Wyndham Garden Ushuaia Hotel del Glaciar. To ensure a smooth embarkation process, we arrived a few days early. This also allowed us to explore the local area and discover all the amazing experiences that Ushuaia offered.

Day 2: Immersive Tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park

On our second day, we embarked on an exhilarating adventure in the southernmost town in the world. After enjoying breakfast and a refreshing sunrise, we hopped into a local taxi for an immersive tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park. Our journey included stops at the renowned post office at the End of the World, the mesmerizing Lago Acigami, enchanting Laguna Negra, breathtaking Cascada Río Pipo, and the fascinating Beaver Habitat. We experienced awe-inspiring moments and incredible sights throughout the day.

Day 3: Preparing for Departure and Boarding the Ocean Endeavour

This morning, we gathered our luggage and prepared for departure to the Ocean Endeavour ship. Afterward, we ventured into Ushuaia to grab a few last-minute items for the trip. We enjoyed lunch at the esteemed Ramos Generales El Almacén restaurant before meeting the crew. Finally, we boarded the ship, excited to start our Antarctica travel experience.

Day 4 & 5: Sailing the Drake Passage

While sailing through the Drake Passage, we met fellow passengers and exchanged stories. We attended enlightening lectures about Antarctica’s captivating nature, allowing us to deepen our understanding and appreciation for this unique environment.

Day 6: Arrival at the Antarctic Peninsula

As we finally reached the Antarctic Peninsula, specifically Neko Harbour, we were filled with awe. Surrounding us were breathtaking landscapes that left us speechless. Boarding zodiac boats from our ship, we set foot on land and marveled at the stunning views. To our delight, a magnificent Gentoo penguin colony welcomed us, and we witnessed the graceful presence of humpback whales in the bay. That afternoon, we arrived at Paradise Bay and took a zodiac tour around the bay at sunset, where we spotted more penguins and a leopard seal. These extraordinary moments are forever etched in our memories, enhancing our Antarctica travel experience.

Day 7: Exploring Cuverville Island and Kayaking Adventure

On Day 7, Cuverville Island greeted us with a breathtaking morning. We encountered numerous Gentoo penguins and Weddell seals. Later, we embarked on a kayaking adventure around Orne Harbour, gliding through brash ice and experiencing nature up close. As evening approached, we enjoyed a delightful barbecue on the back deck, creating unforgettable memories. It was the perfect day to use the newly opened pool on the ship.

Day 8: Whale Watching and Hiking at Portal Point

On Day 8, we cruised around Charlotte Bay in the morning. We spotted several humpback whales, and a calf even circled our zodiac, thrilling all of us. In the afternoon, we hiked up the snow-covered hills at Portal Point. From there, we gazed out into the bay and observed whales surfacing and seals swimming. Exploring the beauty of nature filled us with gratitude.

Day 9: Adventure at Deception Island

Today, we ventured to Deception Island, an exposed portion of an active shield volcano measuring 30 km in diameter. As we sailed through Neptune’s Bellows, the blustery weather added an extra thrill to our excursion. Our hearts raced when we stepped onto the shore, welcomed by Gentoo penguins. It was incredible to think this spot was once an old whaling station.

Day 10 & 11: Calm Return Through the Drake Passage

Finally, we returned to Ushuaia over the Drake Passage. Fortunately, the crossing was calm. As we sailed, we reflected on the incredible experiences we enjoyed during our Antarctica travel experience.
