The Wonders of Nusa Penida

A day trip from Bali to Nusa Penida with Bali Customized Tours, visiting Kelingking Beach and Angel's Billabong, then back by speedboat.

Next up was a day trip to Nusa Penida with Bali Customized Tours. We looked down on Kelingking Beach from the clifftops, where a steep and loose path leads all the way down to the sand. We also saw the turquoise water of Angel’s Billabong, which sits on the rocks at the edge of the sea, and where big waves can wash over without any warning.

The scenery all over the island was incredible. We came back by speedboat in the evening, with the hazy outline of a volcano across the sea.

Good to know

  • Getting there: fast boats from Sanur take 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Island fee: visitors to Nusa Penida pay IDR 25,000 per adult. Since September 2026 it’s collected at the island and at individual sights.
  • Take care: the path down to Kelingking Beach is steep and loose, and visitors have died after leaving it. At Angel’s Billabong, big waves can wash over the rocks without warning.

We checked these details in October 2026. Times, prices and rules do change, so it’s worth a quick look at the official sites before you go.

See it on film

Most of our trips have a film on YouTube, from puffins on Skomer to the Drake Passage.
