Thailand Trip Highlights 2022:

We flew into Bangkok (BKK) International Airport. First, we navigated COVID-19 restrictions and showed our Thai Passes. Then, our transport took us to the Nouvo City Hotel. After checking in, we promptly took our arrival PCR test. While we awaited results, we felt excited about what this trip had in store.

Finally, at 11:00 AM, our PCR results arrived. Without delay, we headed out to explore the area. We wandered through the streets to see what adventures awaited us. After a two-hour exploration, we returned to the hotel and joined the other members of our group for some relaxation at the pool.

On Day 3, we took to the streets by bike! This Bangkok cycling tour allowed us to explore the backstreets, alleyways, and canals. We gained a glimpse into the vibrant heart of the city. Along the way, we marveled at several wats (temples), which contrasted with the chaos that defines this metropolis.

Our adventure continued early on Day 4 at the Maeklong Railway Market. Here, vendors set up their goods along active railway tracks. After experiencing this unique market, we visited the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which some call the “Venice of the East.” Vendors sell their goods from boats along the waterways.

Next, we transferred to Ayutthaya, the second capital of Siam and a UNESCO World Heritage site. We explored Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon and Wat Phanan Cheong. The stunning architecture and fascinating histories enriched our experience. This historical stop further added to our Thailand trip highlights.

Unfortunately, one of our group members tested positive, leading to a mandatory 10-day isolation period. During this time, we had only 45 minutes each day to enjoy the roof terrace. This became a challenging but memorable part of our trip.

Once cleared, we flew to Krabi and checked into our hotel, COSI, in Ao Nang. We started with a refreshing dip in the pool. Then, we watched the sunset on the beach, enjoying a couple of Changs purchased from the local shop. It made for a blissful first evening.

On Day 18, we went on an exciting island boat trip. We visited Bamboo Island, Phi Phi Islands, and beautiful Maya Bay, with stops for snorkeling. Each location showcased the stunning beauty of Thailand’s islands and left us in awe.

The next morning, we returned to Ao Nang. We enjoyed the hotel pool in the afternoon, then went out for drinks at the Yesterday Bar as the sun set.

We caught a longtail boat to Railay Beach. There, we spent the day lounging and exploring the famous Bat Cave. We returned in time for another beautiful sunset over Ao Nang beach.
