We flew from Gatwick to Zurich, and the first job on arrival was to leave our bags in the SBB lockers at Zurich Hauptbahnhof, so we could look round the city without dragging suitcases behind us.
Lunch was at Ass-Bar, a local favourite for fresh salads. We then checked into Hotel Montana and spent the afternoon wandering the old cobbled streets. Dinner that first night was at Rheinfelder Bierhalle, a traditional beer hall on Niederdorfstrasse in the old town that has been going since 1870. It gave us a good, hearty introduction to Swiss food.
Good to know
- Airport to the city: trains from Zurich Airport to the main station take 10 to 15 minutes and run every few minutes. A single is CHF 7. Zurich Tourism
