Day 15: Sunrises and Cave Secrets

A dawn hike to the Railay viewpoint for sunrise, a visit to Phra Nang (Princess) Cave and the Bat Cave, and another Andaman sunset.

A dawn hike to the Railay viewpoint paid off with a lovely sunrise. The trail is a steep climb using fixed ropes.

We spent the rest of the day at Phra Nang Cave (the local “Princess Cave”, with its phallic offerings) and the Bat Cave. Phra Nang Cave is at the end of Phra Nang Beach, and the carved wooden offerings are left there by fishermen for luck. Then we finished with another bright Andaman sunset.

Good to know

  • The viewpoint trail: it’s a steep climb using fixed ropes, about 15 to 20 minutes to the top, and very slippery after rain. Wear proper shoes, not flip-flops.
  • Phra Nang Cave: it’s at the end of Phra Nang Beach. Fishermen leave the carved wooden offerings there for luck, and it’s free to visit.

We checked these details in October 2026. Times, prices and rules do change, so it’s worth a quick look at the official sites before you go.
